Radhatri Nethralaya, undertakes various philanthropic initiatives through its public charitable trust, Gurupriya Vision Research Foundation
Since its inception in 2009, Gurupriya Vision Research Foundation, the public charitable trust of Radhatri Nethralaya, provides free eye care to the poorer sections of the society.
Twice monthly cataract surgery camps are conducted along with NGOs in various villages in and around Chennai and deserving patients are brought to Radhatri Nethralaya, operated free of cost, given free food and overnight accomodation at the hospital premises and dropped back to their homes the next day.
Low visual aids are distributed free of cost to the needy patients.
Every year prior to Diwali, workshops are conducted to demonstrate first aid measures following cracker injuries to the eye to school students. The participating students receive certificates and first aid kits. Six workshops have so far been conducted with over 1000 students benefitting. Pamphlets illustrating first aid measures are distributed by the trustees to Govt and Corporation schools every year.
